The Bandar Malaysia Underground City Project is estimated to involve a cumulative gross development value of USD 40 billion and will be completed in phases over the next 20 to 25 years, that will provide ample options for all forward-thinking companies to forge collaboration towards meeting key challenges of completing the project, with opportunities for construction and infrastructure works up for grabs, as Bandar Malaysia plans to roll out the transit-oriented development (TOD) and launch project tenders by the end of 2017 at the earliest. Bandar Malaysia, which will be Kuala Lumpur’s new integrated transport hub featuring bus and other rail links, including the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Line 2 and Line 3, KLIA Express (ERL), the inner-city KTM rail line, the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, and links to all major highway networks, as well as the Malaysian terminus for the proposed High Speed Rail between Singapore and Malaysia. As such, this conference provides a timely opportunity to review the concept stage for infrastructure and system for the Kuala Lumpur Terminus of the planned Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail (HSR) Project, located within Bandar Malaysia. While Bandar Malaysia and the HSR are two different projects managed by separate entities of the federal government, however, being involved in developing the hub allow an entity to average down the cost of building the rail.
